The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Sri Venkateswara University College of Engineering has been a cornerstone of academic excellence and innovation since its inception in 1959. Over the years, it has continuously evolved to meet the educational and research needs of students, industry, and society at large. The department offers a comprehensive range of programs, including a Bachelor's in Technology (B.Tech) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a Master's program specializing in Power Systems. Both the undergraduate and postgraduate programs have earned accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in New Delhi, attesting to their high-quality education and research standards.
The department takes pride in its robust research environment, offering a Ph.D. program in various areas such as Renewable Energy Sources, Power Quality, Reactive Power and Control Management, Electrical Distribution Systems, and Electrical Vehicles. To date, it has awarded over 100 Ph.D. degrees, with 30 more in the pipeline. The department's annual intake includes 72 undergraduate students and 18 postgraduate students, aligning its offerings with the guidelines set by AICTE/APSCHE.
The faculty comprises four professors, two assistant professors, nine academic consultants, and nine supporting staff members, all dedicated to fostering a rich academic and research environment. The department has established nine well-equipped laboratories, continuously updated to stay current with technological advancements, thanks in part to financial support from TEQIP. Students are encouraged to engage in high-quality projects both within the college and in industrial settings, with a significant number securing campus placements or pursuing higher studies.
The department also places emphasis on co-curricular and extracurricular activities to nurture essential life skills and a sense of responsibility toward society and the nation. Moreover, the department boasts a strong and active alumni network, with many graduates holding prominent positions in reputable organizations in India and abroad. These alumni contribute to the department's growth by providing financial support for various facilities and initiatives, ensuring a bright future for Electrical and Electronics Engineering at S.V. University College of Engineering.
